What’s Good Everyone!?It’s Ryan, and I got some cool stuff to show you. Man, I’m from Maryland, which is the East Coast, but West Coast music has always had a big impact on my life. The first time I heard about DJ Quik was a snow day in January 2005. A kid from my school who lived down the road, had just moved to MD from Compton, California. We had just smoked, and wanted to bump some music. We were listening to Ludacris, but my homie said “you know DJ Quik? I was not hip to him at the time. So anyway he played for me – the record “Tonight” – and I was hooked. The storytelling, the production, and laid back yet real soulful vibe pulled me in. That night I went home and researched Quik. I knew that he rapped, but I found out that he was also a producer. DJ Quik is legend in the game. He is a very creative person, and he stays true to the music. To anyone who wants to pursue music as an artist or the business…do your search on Quik. I got the opportunity to take some photos from his album release party in Los Angeles, last week. Quik had a live band with him, and each track that he performed was deep. There was a lot of soul in each song they performed. I appreciate how real it was to be there. It was a dope thing to see a true musician still going hard in doing what they love. Check out the photos below and be sure to get DJ Quik’s 9th album – The Midnight Life – out now!
