Instead of adding a old school song, I thought I should do a mixtape every Friday! A lot of mixtapes came to mind, but one of my favorite mixtapes is Lil Wayne’s Dedication 2 hosted by Dj Drama. The tape came out in May 2006, I was about to end 10th grade around that time and the rap game was a different thing back then. Everyone would release a mixtape spittin over another beat or what was hot at the moment. Now, it’s like a mixtape is an album, Times Change. Lil Wayne was heavy in the streets, I mean so heavy you would hear him in every hustlers car from Baltimore to Miami. Back then, only a certain type of people listened to Wayne. When then Dedication 2 came out it was a big thing. If you ask me it was the tape that changed his career. The Dj Drama hosted tape includes 25 tracks with an array of different topics. You had your street talk, your love talk, your BLING BLING talk, your political talk and most of all you had an amazing mixtape. Take a listen below, roll something and reminisce.
