What’s Good?!
Long Beach, California is a beautiful city, along the coast of south side of Los Angeles. Right near Compton, Lakewood, and Orange County – many many artists we know of were bread from this city.
Right now, I want to shine some light on an upcoming artist out of Long Beach named HeyDeon. He can rap, and he wants to help bring change to the game with his very own style. Check out the interview, here, below – Take a listen to his new project Deon and more.
1. How did you start rapping?“How did I start rapping ummm fuck how did I start oh yeah so one day I was with the homies mark keem and big mike I think maybe a few others. I was like dude if I start rapping I’ll take all these niggas at this school fans I know that sounds like a dick move but I felt I could be better than anybody honestly I’m still that way right now. Moral of the story if it wasn’t for those dudes at school rapping I wouldn’t be rapping right so I guess it turned out cool that I did. Don’t think I’m rapping for no reason there is a reason but I’ll get to that later maybe.”2. You tell me there is a big scene in Long Beach can you explain that?“Yes of course there’s a big scene in the city so so so many talented artist out there not just the one’s your probably know of like snoop vince etc.. There are people like me and my squad also my homies over there at empty set. Those niggas are fucking tight I love my brothers over there Neo Stripes, Tyler aka Cav, LaterDay$$$, Royce, Harbor , Yawn, Okane and others like Cassius it’s so many people the list goes on for days. We are a group of young talented kids ready for our opportunity honestly if we get one it’s over for niggas we are the future honestly like we are that’s why I work with them cause they have a vision they are amazing. The city is so stacked with artist it’s crazy when I get my opportunity they all coming with me dead ass serious like not on no handout shit they are better than 90% of the artist out right now.”3. Tell us about your latest project?“My last project was self titled Deon man that shit right there was my best work so far. The project is better than most of these projects that’s out now honestly. I am so proud of my self for that project like I even produced some of my own beats on there. This project is like a documentary like I talked about the shit I either seen or went through personally. Songs like “Relish” https://soundcloud.com/heydeon/06-heydeon-relish-feat-neo off the project where I was like ” I only fuck with my niggas we on the road to the riches” that shit is real that’s our motive. Then we have songs like ” Last ” https://soundcloud.com/heydeon/05-heydeon-last-prod-nick and ” Ready ” https://soundcloud.com/heydeon/15-heydeon-ready-feat-catrina where I was more personal with my life situations and relation but back to that line in the song Relish like we aren’t stopping to wait for anybody we going to make a name for ourselves whether people like it or not. On this project you hear a young kid trying to get out of this boxed he’s boxed in because people don’t respect what young people have to say now. All 18 songs are nice you can listen to it front to back 1,000 times and still be amused by it. I brung my own fucking style it’s crazy most people would agree like if they took any one of those songs and tried to compare it with another artist they really couldn’t do it. Let me stop babbling I can go on and on about it go listen for your self.”
4. Who were some of your influences?
“My musical influences? Umm I can’t really say that so much. Fuck Damn it’s so many just normal influence cause I grew up in this music shit from my dad and uncle being ” Tha Twinz ” who were once signed to Warren G/Def Jam. They had one of the greatest albums of all time go listen https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/conversation/id844461175. Other influences from people I know personally like Snoop and Vince I learn so much like it’s more than music just watching them makes me more inspired like I can do that shit too. If you want to know who my favorite rapper is it’s Earl Sweatshirt that nigga is so damn tight dude one day I want to kick it with him just skate chill probably make music if he wants but I don’t care about that I just want to be cool with the dude he seem like a cool dude not even trying to sack him man but yeah.”
5. What else do you have planned?
“I have a lot planned for the future I really just want to have a voice for the youth. I want them to know they don’t have to follow everybody they can be themselves. I really want to be somebody successful and somebody people look up to me like damn I knew him I can be somebody too like even though I’m not perfect if he can do it I can why can’t I ? I also plan to keep making music giving people some fresh new shit keep grinding until my opportunity come.“
6. Message to the World?
