What’s going on everyone? I’m excited to say that we’re back with another interview, this time coming from the Mid-Atlantic region, in Baltimore, MD. This city’s music scene is in a transitional stage, producing artists with individual sounds and styles, and most importantly a community of individuals who are getting along. Today I would like to familiarize you with the Baltimore artist who goes by the name of Al Rogers. This MC is best to be described as distinctive, poetic, spiritual, and versatile. I like his sound, it is refreshingly unique. With a voice that can carry so many tones in one verse, Al Rogers’s melodic flow will make you feel soulfully intrigued. His artistic image also adds appeal, as he is entertaining to watch. I am interested to see and hear where his musical career takes him. If his drive is anywhere near as intense as his creativity, than the future looks bright! Give a listen here below, and be on the lookout for his new EP; ALMOST coming soon!

1. Who are you and where are you from?

Al Rogers, a emcee/singer/songwriter born and raised in Baltimore.

2. How did you get into making music?

Started writing poetry in my early teens inspired from women and reading Tupac’s “The Rose that grew from Concrete”…then moved onto rapping and I was a part of a group called Peaceful Money we stopped that    around late 2010 and now here I am a solo artist although I still work close with the members of the group.

3. How would you describe the Baltimore music scene?

We’re under construction I think we’re finally working out the kinks and starting to understand what unity means we still have a few hiccups here and there but overall I think we’re progressive and raw.

4. Tell us about your new project Almost

I’ve been working on ALMOST since 2011 so you’ll hear some new joints on there as well as joints that are 2 years old…It’s a EP so i’m limiting songs that will be featured on the project. Overall the title “ALMOST” means trying to accomplish impossible feats I mean just think about it almost will never be good enough so we strive for perfection in our crafts. Just think of the theory “Pie in the Sky” or “building a castle in the                 clouds”. You gotta think about it this business is formidable so you gotta try your hardest but at the end of  the day how much is “trying” actually worth? “Almost”!

5. In my opinion you make powerful music…To make this type of music, you must have gone through a lot. Can you tell us a little about growing up in Baltimore and your journey as an artist?

Music has brought me a lot of love and even more unguided hate, it’s a struggle everyday I have the type of personality that i’m automatically friendly and in this business its dog eat dog you feel me? So I’ve kind of       grown a shell, you know? Throughout it all music is music I love it, it’s opened doors, legs, and my mind lol. Growing up in Baltimore is tough as growing up in any other jungle i’ve seen friends die and my brothers in         and out of jail so I look at it for what it’s worth and what it could be.

6. Could you tell us about your creative process?

Play a lot of Andre 3000, Mos Def, and Marvin Gaye amongst others drink a lot of tea close my eyes and    think.
