What’s goin on everyone? I am in the mood for some inspiration, and I hope you are too. I have right here an interview with an artist from Baltimore, MD who goes by the name Jay Wyse. I am really digging his music. Wyse is a natural talent, and has an infectious flow that sends a positive message. I am inspired by his desire to succeed. It’s essential for young people to have such a positive mindset, especially in today’s world. We all face negativity, and we all have to know that no matter where we are from, or what has happened to us, we are still human; we still matter, and we serve a purpose. Most often that purpose is greater than anything we can perceive. Jay Wyse makes music that encourages overcoming where you are, and using what you’ve got to get to where you wanna be. Put your heart into what you want; your soul into what you believe, and give your life to what you desire. Check out the interview below, and some dope tracks as well! Be on the lookout for Jay Wyse in the future! What’s up Baltimore! As always Stay Positive!

1. Who are you and where are you from?

I go by the name of Jay Wyse, & I’m the average 23 year old. I work, I have a son, and I’m just trying to better situations. I was born and raised in Baltimore City (east side).

2. What is it like growing up in Baltimore?

Being as tho I’ve grown up here it’s like everything that happens is expected. People on the outside looking in view this as one of the worst places ever, but just like every other place we have our ups & downs. I’ve been shot and arrested, but at the same time I’ve been to college and now work a full time job. It’s up and downs, but I honestly I do feel like we have so much talent here we’re just constantly overlooked due to how we’re viewed as a whole. Just have to keep a level head and have a strong enough mind & drive to better situations. If you can make it here you can make it anywhere.

3. How did you get into making music?

I got serious with music late 2010/2011. What made that happen was the loss of my best friend who was shot & killed in May of 2010. I recall him saying, “We can really do something with this music shit”, ever since then I’ve been on this path. I have a song on my latest album released titled “Letter To My Man 3” check that out.

4. Any influences or favorite artists?

Honestly I really have no specific favorite artists, I like the work from quite a few though. I do like 2Pac though, his messages and music can still be played with relevance today and that’s big.

5. What do you want to accomplish through your music?

I try to make timeless music, music that can be played years from now and still have that relevance. I want to expand greatly and touch many people around the world, it means a lot to actually touch somebody’s heart and soul and be able to change their day or inspire them to better what they have going on.

6. Your music has a lot of pain and soul in it…how is life going?

I’m actually in a good space right now, I’m doing a lot better than I was doing at this time last year and that’s a blessing.

7. What is like being a young father and pursing your dreams? I ask because most people believe if you have a child at a young age it’s all bad news and everything will turn out bad.

I greatly enjoy being a father. It actually pushes me to strive even harder. My son will forever be one of the greatest things that happened to me. In my eyes he changed my life for the better, it’s different for different people but that’s my view on it.

8. Do you have any advice for the world?

Only advice that I can give is never take things for granted and go after what you want while you have the ability and resources to do so. I would hate to be that old man telling my sons kids or whoever that I wanted to do this and I had the chance to do that but I didn’t pursue it. Also never let anybody make you feel like what you’re going after is impossible or dumb.

9. Favorite quote?

“Skyscrapers start at the ground” – Jay Wyse

10. Best food spot in Baltimore?

There are a couple good food spots, if you’re looking for some good soul food hit up “Mr. George’s” on Luzerne right off of Monument St.

11. Anything else you would like to add…

Closing out this interview I’d just like to say thanks for the opportunity and the postings that you granted. I’d also like to take this time to just say “Choose Wysely” ha ha, RIP Biscuit!
