What’s going on everyone, I am back with another interview, this time with an artist from Charleston, South Carolina. He goes by the name Main Street. Having spent time in SC growing up, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing Southern Culture; and that southern soul is undoubtedly present in the rhymes of Main Street’s music. His new tape Underdawg dropped in 2012, with real raw and laid back feel. I appreciate how each track was composed to be unique, yet as a whole it all flows together like it should. The words are very relatable, for anyone whom just wants to create their own world, and make their own way. It is youthful, and it paints a colorful image of the place he is from. You can feel the pain and struggle, as well as optimism and aspiration. The flexible sound and feel of honesty in this tape is what caught my ear. I’m also feeling the southern hip hop influence, style, and flow. Give a listen here below, and get to know Main Street for yourself. I know you’ll like what you hear.
