1. Where are you from & what was it like growing up there?
I’m from South Central Los Angeles. Growing up here your normal isn’t everybody else’s. Your more likely to be introduced or offered things early in your adolescence, walking to the store you might see a girl you know doing prostitution, or your childhood friend who you grew up playing sports with probably died to gang violence.
2. What music inspired you growing up?
Growing up I was mostly outside, I wouldn’t say I had a lot of music that inspired me.
3. Tell us about what you have planned for the next few months & the new year.
Before this year ends I plan on dropping this upcoming duo tape with my boy Nunnice following with a tape of my own that’ll have a few features on it. I wanna start this new year with new music and pretty much new everything.
4. Who is one artist you always wanted to work with?
I don’t really have an artist I’ve always wanted to work with but I like Future, I think he got a lot of style.
5. What is one thing you want people to take away from your music?
Well I want them to feel the authenticity when listening to me you know, when I’m in the studio I don’t really come with intention I kind of just say what I feel.
6. How would you describe your sound?
I think I’m a little more on the melodic side but like I said I don’t really have an intention on sound when making music. Whatever vibe I’m on I try to find a beat that helps translate how I’m feeling.
7. What current artists inspire you?
Now that I’ve found a passion for music I think someone that I’ve look towards inspiration is 50 cent. From somebody who really come from the streets, it’s clear he’s mastered and surpassed many roles deeper than music.
8. Where did you get your name from?
Every single time I’ll put a fit on or carry a bankroll to school I’d have some blue on or all blues in my roll. One day my boy said “you always got blue you should just call yourself blue.” I wanted to go by something that really represent me and well I’m Spanish, so I started introducing myself as Azul.
