What’s up everyone! I hope you are having a positive weekend! This past Friday, the Oxymoron Tour came through Maryland, and I got the chance to see Schoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, and Vince Staples live! The show was sold out. They even added a second show, which sold out as well! Long Beach, CA artist Vince Staples hit the stage first, and killed it! I can really relate to Vince’s music – I was never in a gang, but have some experienced very serious street situations – Besides that, Vince spits truth to the people; which I respect. Check out his latest project Stolen Youth. Chattanooga, TN artist Isaiah Rashad was next up! He recently signed with TDE, and dropped his – Cilvia: Demo – project in January. The place was rocking with Isaiah the whole time. He makes very soulful music that cannot be slept on. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out his project because it is very good. Finally, Schoolboy Q himself hit the stage and performed an array of his records; old and new! The room was hype for his entire 90 minute set. Schoolboy Q is a very rare rapper. The way he talked to the crowd was amazing! He thanked everyone for supporting the album, and expressed how it has blessed his, and his daughter’s future. He told us “to have faith God no matter what we are going through.” I really support artist like Q because they are real. A real person isn’t afraid to show emotion, and gratitude. They aren’t afraid to tell their story like it is; without any sugar coating. Schoolboy Q tells the stories of his life as they are. The truth will always be what lasts. The great thing about Vince, Isaiah and Q is their music will live forever! Their music can motivate you to follow your dreams; to overcome yourself, and your environment, and make something out of the life you were given. No matter how broke you are; how rough your neighborhood is; or how misunderstood you feel. Having artist’s whom you can relate to and vibe with is a special thing; and it is nothing less than a great gift; one that we all can share.
