“For the 7th installment of Single’s Awareness Day, I have put together a collection of over 40 tracks with two voices: One speaks to the desire and the need for real love, the other to the disregard and manipulation of those feelings. In today’s youth culture, the messaging around love is confusing. We’re fed messages of misogyny, promiscuity and materialism over the ideals of compromise, understanding and commitment. This project juxtaposes these two messages against one another, creating a musical discussion on the issues that are emotionally terrorizing young people everywhere.
I’m speaking to the obstacles that keep people from truly loving each other, while highlighting the frustration that comes from those obstacles, using the sounds of some of my favorite artists.
When I’m vibing to “Work For It” by Rich The Kid, I’m wondering what’s really behind those feelings and whether his lyrics are a genuine expression of his emotions. Why can’t Future love these hoes? Why is he such a monster on ’em?!
