What’s Good everyone!?!? It’s Ryan, from Hip Hop Hundred here. Recently, I got to speak with upcoming Inglewood, California artist 2CZ. 2CZ is very serious about his craft and I enjoy his music very much. First, check out his releases and then read our interview! A lot more is coming from the Inglewood artist! Read/Listen below!

  1. Being From Inglewood, what was it like growing up there?

Growing up in Inglewood was fun. We was probably the last generation of kids that actually played outside. It was a lot of kids on my block, so everyday we was out playing basketball, football, we would sneak into this apartment complex & go swimming, riding our bikes, but it was still a certain element of negativity around us & we were aware. Typical hood shit you know. We knew about gang wars, we heard gunshots, we saw a lot of it in real time. I love my city tho I’m glad I experienced everything I did.

2. What music influenced you growing up?

My dad listened to a lot of 80s/90s rap when I was a kid. He was mostly bumping Pac, Snoop, Cube, Tha Dogg Pound & LL Cool J. So I guess you could say those were some of my early influences. I was also a big Michael Jackson fan. I listened to a bunch of oldies as a kid too.

3. What made you want to get into making music?

Honestly, I just love writing. I was never a good student, but always got As or Bs in English. My 6th grade English teacher was the first person to tell me I could have a career in writing. I started toying with the idea of being a artist in 2015, I was in 12th grade, that’s when I started writing raps in the back of class. I didn’t actually start making songs until 2017. Aside from the love of writing, music is just in me. I’ve known that since I was a kid. I was always curious about it, so I just decided to go for it.

4. Is there any artists you want to work with?

Kanye, Pharell, Erykah Badu, Andre 3000, Charlie Wilson, Steve Lacy, Tyler, The Creator, Roy Ayers… those are the dream collars. I’ll work with anybody it just has to make sense.

5. Do you have any plans for the summer with the music?

Dropping! That’s it that’s all. I’m releasing a lot of content this summer. Dropping music & growing my following is the plan. I’m also working on this mini movie, so hopefully that’s done by the end of summer. You’re going to see a lot more of me.

6. Besides music, what else are you talented in?

Football & basketball. Football was my sport growing up. I’m a comedian on the low too.

7. What’s you’re favorite show of all time?

Martin definitely!

8. Do you have any specific goals you want to accomplish in the music industry?

I just want to be a breath of fresh air. Right now, it’s a certain way people do things, a lot of it is just copying what the next person did. I want my art to be refreshing. I don’t want to make the songs everybody else makes. I have a vision & I want to make people feel it. I want to be respected as an artist. That’s the goal.

9. Anything else you want the world to know?

I could say a lot, but I rather let my music speak.
