What’s good everyone! It’s Ryan and we are back with another interview! This time around we speak with Merkabah. Merkabah is a very special MC in my eyes! From the energy to the flows, Merkabah has a lot to say! I always enjoy meeting people who have a strong love for Hip Hop!

1. Growing up in the Midwest, what got you into Hip Hop growing up? What city are you from?

My introduction to hip hop was a record called Electric Breakdance, which my father purchased for me from the local record store. Also, a short film about breaking called The Pilot. I am from a small college town in Indiana called Muncie.

2. What kind of music did your parents play grown up?

My parents mostly played old soul music. The classics. Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson. After that it was Michael Jackson, Prince, Aretha Franklin.

3. You have worked worked with/performed with Obie Trice, Devin The Dude, Gatekeerp (Gravediggaz), Black Sheep & more. Those are very impressive artists. How were those experiences?

Each experience was very impactful in its own unique way. I learned from each experience. Some of the artists I grew up listening to I have been blessed to meet and interact with in person.

4. Tell us about your upcoming project?

The new project is dropping this quarter. It’s an EP called VII: The Chariot. It’s 5 songs. The first single is Mausoleum featuring Frukwan the Gatekeeper of Gravediggaz. It’s a follow-up to my album released earlier this year called The Messiah Complex. Both were produced by my production brand, Metasin Music.

5. Favorite Hip Hop album or few favorites that stand out to you…

Some of my favorite hip hop albums are The Beatnuts (Street Level), Common – Resurrection, Jeru the Damaja – The Sun Rises in the East, Big Pun – Capital Punishment, Gang Starr – Daily Operation, Black Moon – Enta Da Stage, A Tribe called Quest – Midnight Marauders, Cypress Hill (Cypress Hill), and many more.

6. If you could work with any current mainstream artist who would it be?

Kanye West.

7. What would be a dream collaboration for you? It could be rapper, producer, director etc etc or a combo of any of them

Producer: Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind (Jedi Mind Tricks). Rapper: Bizzy Bone.

8. Any goals you want to accomplish in the next year?

I try my best to set a lot of yearly goals. I will be dropping my EP and a big compilation project featuring some powerhouse underground artists on my own label Dark Ages Music Group.

9. Anything you want the world to know…

I am a cancer survivor.
